Names like Nicklaus and Trevino, Ballesteros and Langer, Faldo and Floyd, Norman and Els... and none more legendary than our own Christy O'Connor. They've tested their games against the best on this Dublin links and those who were witness have carried the stories to all corners of the globe. Now we invite you to make your own history at The Royal Dublin Golf Club.
Christy O'Connor joined Royal Dublin in 1959 as club professional and his association with the club continues to this day. Christy's eagle-birdie-eagle finish to win the Carroll's International at Royal Dublin in 1966 still ranks as the finest finish to any Irish professional golf tournament and is a special memory. He was the first golfer to play in 10 consecutive Ryder Cup matches, just one of his many accomplishments.
"For over 50 years I have been proud of my association with Royal Dublin. On behalf of the members and management I welcome you, and I hope you will enjoy the course and the hospitality as much as I have over the years."
Special note: On November 2nd 2009, Christy received one of the highest honours in Golf when he was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in St. Augustine, Florida. Read more about his induction and list of career accomplishments on the World Golf Hall of Fame site.
It is only a few years since Niall helped the Boys team at Royal Dublin to win the Fred Daly Trophy. Niall has since gone on to greater things and is the current holder of the Brabazon Trophy. The highlight of his career to-date was in September 2009 when he was the sole Irish representative on the British & Irish Walker Cup team who played against the United States in Merion Golf Club. Niall played in all of the rounds and finished with the best individual score of any of the British & Irish players. He then went to the European Tour Qualifying School and successfully won his card on the European Challenge Tour for 2010. He has now joined the professional ranks and recently made his debut on the tour in South Africa.
